On this week’s show, we met North Carolina-based Cole Guerra. He’s the main man behind I Am Casting, a jazzy project, which is the perfect combination of experimental, floating melodies and pointed, topical lyrics. After more than a decade off from making music, Cole, a psychologist, returned to the studio. Interestingly enough, he creates the music first–the melodies, and all instrumentation. Only after that does he start writing lyrics. They’re political, timely, and usually subtle enough to where you need to listen a couple of times, and then they start getting under your skin.
