Twirl Radio Playlist – Show #862 – 2/16/2019: In-studio interviews with Gail George, and with Eric Blakely of The Bottle Kids!

Eric Blakely, DJ Mike (and his freakishly long arm), and Gail George just after the Twirl broadcast

Radio magic. It happened this weekend. I was fortunate to have two amazing, wonderful, friendly musical guests visiting me in person, in the Twirl studios. They both traveled a long way to get here, so it was one of those days where all musical roads lead to Sacramento.

Sacramento native, singer-songwriter Gail George, was visiting from New York City. It’s become a regular thing for her to visit whenever she’s in town. She recently released a wonderful set of vocal-oriented cover songs called “It’s Personal”, so we chatted about the making of that, and played some other songs from her past–and even her future–by way of a soon to be released collaboration with Don Hawkins. http://www.gailgeorge.com

Berkeley native, and leader of The Bottle Kids, Eric Blakely, got married a while back and moved to Paris, France. Pretty romantic. Well, he was back in NorCal for a visit, and was kind enough to make the drive up to Sacramento. Last year, he released the Kids’ sophomore release, “Let Me In On This Action”, so we heard some tracks from it, talked about the history of the band, and Eric even graced us by playing a couple of songs live in studio. http://www.thebottlekids.com/

The best part for me was that Gail and Eric had never met before, and weren’t even familiar with each other’s music. But the three of us had a terrific chat. It was a great musical meeting of the minds between these two talents, and you can hear it all here.
