The Corner Laughers in the Twirl studios, 3/12/2016.
Episode 722 of Twirl Radio was a milestone. It marked the first time that all four members of Bay Area band The Corner Laughers had appeared together in the Twirl studios. Our perennial gag had been that much like the President and Vice President don’t travel together for security reasons, it’s for security reasons that all four Laughers don’t appear together on my show. Well, drastic times call for drastic measures, and Sacramento’s pent up demand for the band required them all to be there.
This was a pretty epic show, because a mere minutes earlier, we also had an in-studio visit from Anton Barbeau, who was visiting his hometown of Sacramento from Berlin. We chatted about his wonderful, newly-released album Magic Act, which does live up to its title. Both bands turned in great performances at Shine Cafe in downtown Sacramento later that night.
